Andover Trees United Gears Up for Annual Tree Planting Event with Local Schools at Bury Hill Meadows

As November approaches, Andover Trees United is once again preparing to join forces with local schools and the community for their annual tree-planting initiative at Bury Hill Meadows. In partnership with Test Valley Borough Council, this year’s event promises to be a significant step toward a greener future.

From November 11th to 29th, schoolchildren from Andover will take to Bury Hill Meadows during school hours, planting trees and learning about the importance of environmental stewardship. The initiative, which has become a cherished local tradition, highlights the dedication of both Andover Trees United and Test Valley Borough Council to sustainability and ecological education.

The event offers an opportunity for the wider community to get involved, with volunteers needed Monday through Friday throughout the three-week period. Abbey Sadler, the Nature and Community Officer for Andover Trees United, encouraged residents to contribute: “This is a chance for us all to invest in the future of our environment. By planting these trees, we are not only enhancing our local green spaces but also teaching the next generation the importance of caring for our planet.”

Participants will assist students as they plant native species, contributing to the creation of a diverse and resilient woodland that will serve as a wildlife haven for years to come. Those interested in joining the effort can reach out to Abbey Sadler at abbey.sadler@andovertrees.org.uk to sign up as a volunteer.

Andover Trees United has been at the forefront of local reforestation efforts since its founding. Their mission is to connect schools, community groups, and volunteers to make a positive environmental impact. With over a decade of successful tree-planting campaigns, their work at Bury Hill Meadows continues to be a highlight, attracting hundreds of participants annually.

This initiative not only bolsters the local ecosystem but also fosters a sense of community. Together, residents and students are working towards a more sustainable Andover, one tree at a time.

For those wishing to take part, now is the perfect time to roll up your sleeves and help secure a greener future. Volunteers are needed throughout November—join Andover Trees United in making a difference!
