Happy Earth Day!

Friday 22nd April 2023 is International Earth Day this year. Earth Day started in America in 1970 as a response to the increasing use of fossil fuel (particularly in cars and industry) and the environmental concerns and polluted environmental threats to human health they caused. Today it’s one of the world’s largest environmental movements.

At Andover Trees United we have been investing in our planet for more than ten years by creating and managing Harmony Woods. We have been planting trees with the help of Andover’s local schools since the project started in 2012, and run a regular Monday work day to help maintain the wood. We run community days on the second Saturday of each month, along with other events which help with management and wildflower planting.

Andover Trees United also runs a biodiversity surveying project called ‘Nature in Harmony’ with the help of an Ecology Intern each year. The ‘Nature in Harmony’ also includes Citizen Science events and a Youth Team. The Youth Team also helps to run other young people events so they can pass their knowledge on to their peers.

For this year's Earth Day, Andover Trees United wants to encourage you to get involved. Here are simple things you can do to help protect Earth.

Below are some suggested activities and events we would love for you to participate in. Even if it's not on 22nd April.
